Nick joined Barton Willmore as Design Partner in 2005 following 25 years of experience in national and international Masterplanning work, primarily as Director of the Urban Design Group at Aukett Fitzroy Robinson. Nick has attracted a considerable reputation in the specialist field of large scale, complex urban regeneration, having led the multi-disciplinary teams providing Master Plans for projects such as Ravenscraig; The European Parliament Quarter, Brussels; Newcastle Great Park; Millbay, Plymouth; The Royals Business Quarter, London; Potsdam, Berlin; Northfleet, Eastern Quarry; Central Park, Manchester and many others. His specialism extends to large-scale residential or mixed-use schemes, employment facilities and a particular focus on the public realm. As partner he has assumed responsibility for the 20 strong London based Urban Design Team.
Adam Crozier has been engaged in the development of urban landscape for over 12 years both in private practice and within local authorities. His background in landscape architecture brings with it a unique perspective of how the component parts of a city network come together to function as a single organism. In recent years, Adam has focused on creating sustainable development strategies for urban and regional centres within the MENA region. Most notably he has taken the lead role on the development of the Jeddah Strategic Plan, as well as several high profile private development strategies both in Jeddah and Riyadh. Adam is an effective team member with excellent communication skills. He is often brought on to projects to take on the leadership of internal and external project teams on behalf of clients. In this capacity he has been able to provide strategic advice to help improve and focus the outcomes of major masterplanning projects.
When James took over as Design Partner in the London office in 1996, he refocused the team to the core skill of designing high quality, viable and sustainable developments that could always deliver added value. His extensive involvement in the design and construction of a wide range of building types, from inception to completion has allowed him to be keenly aware of how and where this added value can be achieved. James has considerable knowledge and experience of the planning system and has helped negotiate and steer many complex projects to success. He is particularly skilled in the creation of mixed-use urban developments, ensuring these projects deliver integrated, viable and exceptional places to live and work.
Kathryn joined the practice as an Associate Urban Designer in 2002 with a background in regeneration and sustainable development. Initially concentrating on mixed use, high density masterplans and major urban regeneration projects, her main focus was Kent Thameside, where she was involved in masterplanning elements of the Ebbsfleet Valley development including Eastern Quarry, Ebbsfeet and Springhead, to deliver the bulk of the Government’s housing targets in the Thames Gateway. She has since widened her knowledge of sustainable community development, both in the UK and abroad, and now directs UK and European projects where sustainable living and responsible resource management are the core design objective.
Melvin is currently based in Kuala Lumpur and leads our involvement on development projects there and throughout the region. He has had a wide ranging involvement in a mixture of projects covering residential, mixed use and commercial projects on behalf of house builders, landowners, developers and public companies. Melvin and his team undertake all aspects of a project from initial feasibility and the design through to completion but his focus however is getting the project started and ensuring that value is being created.
